From Forts to Flamingos: My 2016 Travel Recap

I had a variety of travel experiences in 2016.  In February I took my first cruise on the Carnival Liberty which sailed round trip from Barbados to St Lucia, St Kitts, St Maarten/St Martin, Puerto Rico and St Thomas.

I had an off-road buggy experience in St Lucia and visited the famous Maho and Orient beaches in St Maarten.  In one day in Puerto Rico I managed to visit both forts and go crazy shopping at Plaza Las Americas.

In June I visited Washington D.C. and New York City and indulged my nerdy side with monuments, memorials and museums. Of course, I also had to engage in some skyscraper gawking and random roaming around Manhattan, Brooklyn and Harlem.

I returned to St Lucia in October for five days of spa treatments, sightseeing  and even sailing lessons. Add sunsets, archery lessons and gorgeous views at The BodyHoliday and it was perfection. I wrote a review of my stay and shared photos of some breathtaking views already so I won’t post too many here.

For my final trip of 2016,  I went to Fort Lauderdale and Miami, Florida. From taking in the celebrity mansions on Millionaires Row as I cruised down to river to learning some of the history of Miami, it was a no-fuss way to end my travel year. I posted some of my favorite photos from Flamingo Gardens and Millionaires Row so I won’t repost.

This year will probably be another exciting one for me. Nothing is really set in stone as yet but London and continental Europe are high on the list.
